How to Record a Google Meet
Yes, you can record a Google Meet if you have an eligible Google Workspace plan. On a computer, click Activities › Recording › Start recording, or open More options (the three dots) › Record meeting. - Join the meeting on a computer.
- Click Activities in the bottom right, or More options (the three dots).
- Select Recording › Start recording, then Start to confirm.
- Everyone in the meeting is notified that recording has started.
- To stop, go to Activities › Recording › Stop recording. Recording also stops when everyone leaves.
- The recording saves to the organizer’s Google Drive, and a link is emailed to the organizer and whoever started it.
Recording needs an eligible Google Workspace edition (for example Business Standard or Plus, Enterprise, or Education Plus). It isn’t available on free personal Gmail accounts.
Can you record a Google Meet as a participant?
Only the host, a co-host, or someone in the host’s organization with recording enabled can record. If you’re an outside participant or on a free account, ask the host to record, or use your device’s built-in screen recorder.
The steps are similar if you need to record a Zoom meeting or a Teams meeting.
How to record a Google Meet on a phone (iPhone or Android)
You can’t start or stop a recording from the Google Meet mobile app. To capture a Meet on a phone, use the device’s built-in screen recorder, or join and record from a computer instead.
Where do Google Meet recordings go? (find and save)
- Recordings save to the meeting organizer’s Google Drive, in a Meet Recordings folder.
- A link is also emailed to the organizer and the person who started the recording, and attached to the Calendar event.
- To find one, open Google Drive and look in the Meet Recordings folder.

Why can’t I record my Google Meet?
- There is no record option. Recording needs an eligible Google Workspace plan and is not available on a personal Gmail account. You must be the host, a co-host, or have host permission.
- You cannot record on your phone. Native recording works on a computer or Android device. It is not available inside the Meet app on iPhone, so use a computer or your device’s screen recorder.
- You cannot find the recording. It saves to the organizer’s Google Drive, in a Google Meet folder under My Drive, and a link is emailed to the organizer and attached to the Calendar event.
